Storytime!

We had a guest fall ill this week so rather than force them to record with us, we decided to share a few rough experiences we've had with past edit projects.

There are lessons to be learned from every job, especially the ones that present challenges and don't go as well as you'd like.

Note: We are not necessarily talking just about "clients from hell" and venting our frustrations. These are some of our most difficult projects that we've been involved in that we've taken away some prized knowledge to aid us in the future.

So gather 'round the fire and listen to our tales!

We brought in an expert this week to discuss how you can build a powerfully effective YouTube channel.

Shane Luis is the creator of ReRez, a YouTube channel that features the newest, strangest and most unique gaming topics. He offers reviews of unheard-of games and consoles, as well as a series called "Positives" where he finds the silver lining to terrible games.

Today he's built the channel up to over 65,000 subscribers with almost 200 videos uploaded, his most popular earning over 1 million views.

In this episode we talk about how he found an audience, how he found the right content to put out, and some tips for others who are looking to build a channel for themselves.

We break them all down for you here. However it is you'd prefer to learn more about the wizardry mysticism that is post-production, there's a way for you to do that from one of these suggestions.

Some are paid. Some are delightfully free.

In this episode we follow up our previous topic from Episode 28 about goal setting for success.

As Homer Simpson once said, "Trying is the first step toward failure." And in a way...he's absolutely right!

You're bound to fail. Everybody does! Nobody succeeds on the first try. And if you do, you are a superhuman and we should be worshipping you accordingly. But it's more likely that you are only human like the rest of us.

When we fail, we tend to let it affect our motivation and sometimes throw in the towel right then and there. But you've set your goals for a reason: they are things you truly WANT to achieve. So don't let a little thing like FAILURE stand in your way.

We discuss 4 steps (or 5, depending on whether you listen to Josh or Nick the most) you can immediately take upon failure that will get you back on the proverbial horse. A sort of...resetting if you will. Pressing "continue" on that Game Over screen.
